Genre Research: Thriller

I decided that my film will be opening with the thriller genre. I researched this topic and it fits my pitch. Most thriller movies i've seen tend to go hand in had with other genres. For example horror or crime genres are also involved. But, I will base my opening scene on just the thriller genre even though there will be some hints of another genre. I will base it as much as possible to the thriller genre. Since, the costumes I was planning on using relate to cartel style I will have to avoid as much as possible making it learn towards crime. I came to the conclusion of choosing thriller for a specific reason. The reason to which why it was chosen was because it was going to end with a cliffhanger of kidnapping. Kidnapping is very tense and suspenseful. When I researched this genre I saw that some elements were tension, suspension, danger and excitement. The mafia dressing also brings suspense to the film. The reason for this is because the viewer will already imagine crime organization mean danger. The person watching could build up a sense that is suspenseful. The feeling of suspense would come from the viewer thinking that problems or something can happen. This is because crime organization groups like mafia or cartels tend to have many enemies. Suspense is a very important in making this thriller opening. Because, suspense and dread are what helps shape something into fitting the thriller genre. Dread would also fit with the kidnapping part at the end of the opening scene. The viewing of kidnapping is a tense moment which can produce fear to the viewer.
