Creative Critical Reflection on Music Video

1.) How does you product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups?

Conventions are found all over the film. Whether it was modern day things or anything that fits in the genre of the film. For example, us being in the film was one because it was young people and these music videos tend to have a young people in it since it will catch the attention of a young group. The clothing we wore was casual, days to day lifestyle of what normal teens and young adults wear out. It also used some fast cuts because at one point of the video there was a certain beat to the song and we used some short clips with quick transitions within each bear. These types of transitions are common in these type of videos with changing what the audience is seeing changes with the best and also the speed of those clips were based off of how fast the best during the pet of the song was. Some filming techniques like close-ups, long shots and camera movements like pan and tracking shots were used. They were used a bunch during the production of the film. It represents a young crowd or more like young people. The song itself socializes itself to a younger crowd whose likes to party and dance. Making it already have a direct target of group of people. The video itself shows young people in it and something now every teenager or like young adult does like drive a car.

2.) How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

This project engages with audiences because it is a film. More specifically it's a video for a song. It is visually appealing to the eye because it is a bright setting. People tend to find these type of songs amusing making the video more interesting. The video was uploaded on YouTube a huge streaming platform used by many people. People of all ages use it but mostly younger people since technology is something modern and most older people don’t use it as much. There are many song videos uploaded onto YouTube so, it’s a perfect place to upload this project. Many people go on YouTube not just to look at any videos but to put music and the film is based on a song so, it would be an appealing choice. The only issues with YouTube is that sometimes it makes it hard to use songs in avisos because it will mark it for copyright.

3.)How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

Every project is different and unique in its own way. Going over the simple basic things you need to do for a film, make you become better. During this music video project I learned a lot about the importance of a storyboard. It is supper important since you need to know what you will be doing before the filming because you can't just film without having anything prepared. Preparation is important and key to having a successful film done. Creativeness take a huge part in production because things always change last minute. Not everything is always stuck to the script, it just helps with making the process easier by having an idea of what suppose to happen already. During the editing process I practiced my skills again making me improve maybe not a lot but somewhat. Repeating a skill multiple times makes you become a little better every time. Sound was a struggle for me and still is but I watched my partner do the sound and I learned something from it. Also, during the actual filming you always have to record more before and after the film. And make some extra clips in case there is a need for extra film or something different to be added.

4.) How did you integrate technologies - software, hardware and online - in this project?

I integrated technology in my project because I had to film and edit with a device. I filmed the music video on my phone. I edited the film on my MacBook. I uploaded the video to Youtube, which is a huge platform for uploading videos. Filming the music video on my phone was very beneficial because on my phone it is supper easy to record and it’s easy to understand. Also, the camera quality on my ohm e works supper well so I knew it wouldn’t let us down during the filming. Transferring the videos recorded on my phone to the computer was super easy because since they were both apple products I was able to just airdrop the recording to the laptop. My laptop was actually fast working and surprisingly didn’t lag when editing. The all used to edit the video was iMovie and it was easy to access because this app came with the laptop.
